Someone is Feeling Her Oats!

Someone sure is feeling her oats today!!!

Miss Toni is starting to feel more comfortable. This morning I apparently wasn't feeding her fast enough and she started spinning circles around me and gave out a goofy little whine. This was clearly not the sad cry she has been doing, but was a silly confident "I want it now" whine.

More hijinks: Happy still needs to get spoon-fed in the morning. Today, Toni and Calvin pestered me so much when I was feeding Happy that I had to feed her outside. After about 5 minutes outside SOMEONE in the house was fervently scratching at the door. Now I know that Calvin doesn't scratch so I wonder who that could have been????

Calvin is also all wound up to today. He started goofing around with the stuffed octopus I bought for Toni and before we knew it Miss Toni was also goofing around!!! They played for a good 5 minutes of pure basenji wild n' goonieness. This was wonderful to see as Toni hasn't wanted to play much (On Sunday the briefly played for 30 seconds).

Walking Toni and Calvin together has really helped them get along. So far she has only grumbled once on a walk. After each walk Toni is so tired that she is grumble free for a good hour.

Yesterday was a beautiful day in the 70's and I took Toni and Calvin on the bike path and along some paths that are behind the elementary school. They explored trees, chased squrrils, and said "hello" to many human admirers.

Tummy Rubs for Toni

Toni is such a sweet dog. She loves her tummy rubs at night! And she thinks nothing of it to crawl onto mylap and throw herself into my arms.

Good Days, Sunshine!

4/18/08

We have been having beautful weather for the past couple of days. I think Mother Nature knew Toni was coming so she made some days that were sunny and in the 70's! Very unusual for Vermont in the middle of April.

Toni sure loves to climb. Here she is outside on our table.

Can You Find the Calvin in the Yard?

Well for 5 minutes of sheer panic we couldn't! Gary and I were outside trying to put together a hammack I bought at a yard sale. All the dogs were outside. Suddenly Calvin went missing! We called and called his name but Mr. Cuddles was no where to be found.

Calvin had fallen asleep in the flower bed at the far side of the fence. What a goon!

Hmmm... this seems to be a common theme this week at our house. I guess it is now Happy's turn to go missing and then turn up sleeping! ;)

Toni Exploring in My Bedroom

4/17/08

For the first 2 days Toni did not venture into my bedroom or my craft room / home office. By Thursday she was brave enough to explore the house beyond the living room, kitchen, and Gary's room. I went into the bathroom for 2 minutes and when I came back she was crawling on my nightstand and climbing my headboard to look out the window!

She seemed a little embarrased that she got caught snooping around, so I gave her 2 cookies and some cuddles to let her know it was o.k.

Toni... Where Are You?

4/15/08

Happy and Calvin were outside and I was inside working at my computer. Toni was in the house with me and every 30 minutes or so I would get up and check on her. The last time I checked on Toni she was in the living room lying on the back of the couch looking out the window.

This time when I checked on her she wasn't there. She wasn't on the front porch. Nor was she in the kitchen. I started calling her name but there was no reply. I checked the basement and the garage, still no Toni. I walked past Gary's room and I heard a little sigh. She was sound asleep on his bed in a pile of laundry! She looked so cute I took a photo of her sleeping, but my camera woke her up. The look on her face was just like Happy's when she was startled. Toni looked so cute I took a photo of that too!

Toni's First Day

4/15/08

Toni (aka Jazzetta's Alpine Lace) flew from Denver on United Flight 354 at 4:05pm and arrived into Boston at Logan airport at 10:03. Gary had her loaded in the car by 10:30 and they arrived safe and sound back in Vermont by 2:30am.

When she arrived she came right out of her crate (which may I add was not soiled at all). She walked around our living room very calmly and confidently sniffed the floor and furniture. She was very pleased to get a little bit of food and some cookies before she went to bed with Gary.
